Steven Osborne - 27th June
“always a player in absolute service to the composer” - The Observer
La plus que lente
Danse (tarentelle styrienne)
Sonata no.32 in C minor, Op.111
23 years have passed since Steven’s only previous performance for the society in February 1998! At last, after the trials and tribulations of 2020 and the first part of this year, we can open our summer season with Steven’s recital.
Steven has become one of Britain’s most treasured musicians; his insightful and idiomatic interpretations of diverse repertoire – including Beethoven, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Liszt, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Medtner, Messiaen, Britten, Tippett, Crumb and Feldman - show an immense musical depth. His recitals of carefully crafted programmes are publicly and critically acclaimed without exception and he brings another fine example to Darlington.
