Lara Melda - 9 December 2018

"It's Melda's range and depth of tone that marks her out as a pianist mature beyond her years.  There's nothing brittle or skittish about her playing; she has command of the big picture, especially in late Romantic music"

Melda made her debut at the Barbican with Paul Daniel and the Britten Sinfonia. Previous concerto performances have included Rachmaninov with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Borusan Philharmonic, and Beethoven with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

In 2016 Lara Melda graduated from the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Ian Jones, with a first class honours degree. In 2015 she was a scholarship holder for the Imogen Cooper Music Trust.

The inclusion of the four Chopin Ballades is a rare opportunity to hear these individually outstanding pieces in a recital programme.
